Elisa Rasmine Ronneberg
Elisa Rasmine Rønneberg was born November 02, 1836 to Andreas Severin Rønneberg and Karen Elisa Rønneberg, who were first cousins. After Andreas died in 1846, Karen married Lars Petter Kolbeinson Barstad, who happened to be the half-brother of Nils Kolbeinsson Barstad. It was through this familial connection that Colbein and Elisa met. As noted above, they married in 1866.

Elisa died February 20, 1916, in Aalesund and is also buried at the family plot at Borgund Kirke.

Georg Daniel Barth Rønneberg family home
Georg Daniel Barth Rønneberg family home
“The Rønneberg house in Sjøholt” by Per Rønneberg Bremnes

Georg Daniel Barth Rønneberg was the ”district police superintendant” from 1848 to 1877. He was born on Valderøy in 1818 to Karen Sibylla Baade and Elias Rønneberg. During the first term in office he lived at the farm Blindheim in Sykkylven, but later moved to Sjøholt around 1860. There he built a house where he lived with his wife Ane Cimber Hofseth and their son Johan Christopher Rønneberg. Their daughter, Karen Sibylla Baade Rønneberg, was born there in 1862. The picture of the Rønneberg house is taken after 1880. Georg Daniel Barth Rønneberg had already moved out when the picture was taken.

I give my permission for free use of the picture of the Ronneberg house in Sjøholt on the Ronneberg website. Tore Gjære

Giske Estate - Giske Herregård
Giske Estate - Giske Herregård
Giske Estate, by Per Rønneberg Bremnes

In 1582 Giske was a royal estate. In 1762 the estate was bought by Nils Hagerup. When he died in 1789, Giske went to his son Christopher Hagerup. He did a lot on the estate. By doing so he get into debt. After the death of Christoffer Hagerup in 1804, the estate was put on auction to meet the debts. Christoffer’s widow, Anne Kristine Danholm, was able to buy the property. In 1812 she transferred it to her son-in-law, Peder Elias Rønneberg, who was married to her daughter, Charlotte Marie Hagerup. He also got into economic trouble, and the estate was again sold at auction in 1828. Two years later Peder Elias died.
The estate went in dissolution in the 16th century. The old marble church from 1130 is the only building left of the estate.

Denne gang i 1828. To år etter døde Peder Elias.

The Gløersen family by Per Rønneberg Bremnes

The Gløersen’s originated from Gløer Jonsen Rønneld (1640-1713) from the farm Rønneld in Skjeberg. He was the district police superintendent in the area from 1666 until his death. He was also the owner of the farm “Østre Rønneld” and other lands and properties in the same area. He was married to Marthe Olsdatter (? – 1730) and they had some notable descendants. Among them was Hans Andreas Tanberg Gløersen, the “father” of the railway line between Bergen and Oslo. Another was Per Gloersen, a scientist at NASA, in the USA. Today, all persons who have the surname Gløersen (or Gloersen in USA) are descendants of Gløer and Marthe.

Two of the children of Gløer and Marthe – Ole and Karen – have descendants that married into the Rønneberg family. Ole (Oluf) Gløersen (1673-1734) represents the male line. His 4th great grandson Olaf Gløersen married Augusta Parelius Frost, daughter of Ole Frost and Caroline Christiane Schølberg Rønneberg.

Karen Gløersdatter (1677-1758) represents the female line. Two of her great-great-great grandchildren – Christian Ulrik Kyhn Gløersen and Astrid Gløersen – also married into the Rønneberg family. Christian and Astrid were siblings and the children of Kristian Gløersen and Ragnhild Kyhn. Christian Ulrik married Anna Margrethe Rønneberg, daughter of Joakim Holmboe Rønneberg and Louise Fredrikke Brinchmann. Christian Ulrik Kyhn Gløersen’s sister, Astrid, married Carl Esaias Rønneberg, son of Carl Esaias Rønneberg and Hanna Jacoba Hoffmann.

Olaf Gløersen’s was 5th cousin, once removed, to Christian Ulrik and Astrid.
