Obituary of Einar Rønneberg

Factory owner Einar Rønneberg has departed from us.
This announcement will be received with sadness in the industry where he was well-known and popular. He was only 58 years old.
Einar Rønneberg was a native of Stavanger, son of factory owner Tørres Rønneberg, the founder of Rønneberg Preserving. After Tørre Rønneberg’s death the company was taken over by his two sons, Arne and Einar. Arne died as early as 1926.

The post-war years were a difficult time for the canning industry, and the company had many problems to deal with. But it was Einar Rønneberg who had the personal satisfaction of carrying the famous factory through the crisis and continuing to increase its success.

Factory owner Einar Rønneberg was a man who loved his work and was well-liked by his colleagues. Like his brothers, he had a fondness for technical questions. He had an active interest in canning production and liked nothing better than to walk round in the factory giving advice and guidance.

He was a friend to all his workers and knew their families, which in return nourished a deep affection for their employer. From early in the morning until late at night he was on the go in the factory, and in the burden and heat of the day he was never one to spare himself. It was natural for him to throw on overalls and help with the job, whether in the factory or driving the company truck.

Rønneberg was not one who participated in public life or in the work of the Association of the industry. He rather gave himself wholly to his business and his family. He was a good man, straightforward and decent in all his conduct. As such will colleagues and workers, friends and acquaintances remember him.

Einar Rønneberg leaves a wife and five adult children. After their father’s death his sons John and Einar have taken over the everyday running of the company.
